Will AI take over the world -- our jobs, our relationships, our entire way of life? By now you've likely interacted with AI, even if you didn't realize it and some use it regularly. The more you do, the more you have to wonder, how much transformation is actually going to happen? I think the short answer is a full 360 degrees of change, although it will be seen and felt in certain areas before others.
There are two worlds co-existing right now. One is the tech world which is busy building (cooking as they call it) to create an entirely new reality. Their efforts are being explored by those on the bleeding-edge of technology with some degree of seamless integration for everyday people to use without even knowing it.
The other world is the one in which most people exist in. They've heard of AI, maybe used it in a Google search, or on their iPhone, but it's not affecting their daily lives, so it's mostly a novelty for now.
And then there's a middle, sort-of grey area, where some people are using Chat GPT or other models regularly to help with their business, brand or personal tasks. Some of them may also use generative AI art models to create incredible images and video content. This group likely has an idea of what's coming, but it's less of a fear and more of an opportunity to get ahead in our highly competitive global economy.
The message I want everyone to hear right now is -- get in that grey area. Learn the tools, familiarize yourself with LLM models such as OpenAI's models (GPT, 4o, 01, 03 etc.), Anthropic's Claude models, Meta's Llama, Google's Gemini. There are others, but no need to overwhelm yourself. Just pick one that's right for you (I prefer OpenAI's models) and get started today. You won't regret getting a head start into the new world that will be here before most people know it.
If you've never really used AI and don't know how it can help, I have one sentence for you -- it can help you with almost everything.
So where are we at now, where are we headed and what industries will be most impacted?
Present day AI usage:
Use of large language models (LLMs), such as those I mentioned above to do all kinds of intellectual tasks at every level
Integrated chatbots - some are so good you don't know which are bots vs a human
Early stage of AI agents that can perform digital tasks for you autonomously
Generative art images so realistic you don't always know if it's real or not
AI video - choice of humanized models to read scripts, use in commercials, etc.
AI image cloning of real people
AI voice cloning and translating into multi-languages
AI generated music (full songs and instrumentals)
Editing video: cleaning up your pre-recorded words, making you look like you maintained eye contact, altering the background setting
Editing images - altering everything you want changed
Industry specific AI functions, especially regarding large data sets, and in the finance sector, marketing, technology, early medical industry use, etc.
What's next:
Here's where it will get weird and it's unknown how fast some of these will be adopted
AI companions - friends, lovers, home attendants, all of it
Development of AI ethics committees and laws passed
End of social media in this format (more bots than people, synthetic content fatigue, rise of AI influencers)
End of search engines in this format (AI will just tell you what you want to know)
AI in nearly every corporate business performing the tasks of most administrative jobs
AI taking over the followings sectors: education (replacing teachers with personalized education), legal, hospitality, clean energy, further integration in finance, revolutionizing the ENTIRE medical industry
Robotics integrated with AI and the introduction to personal home models and normalcy of models in business settings, especially to do laborious, hands on jobs
Self driving vehicles with AI integration
Eventual transhumanism between humans and AI into hybrids
That all said, yes, AI will absolutely take over the world. At least the one we knew. But it doesn't have to be terminator style or even bad. There is a chance we are looking at a new form of utopia. Some people believe this will free up the 'human doing' and make room for the 'human being'.
The most important consideration will be whether or not we can maintain our dominion over this world when co-existing with a higher form of intelligence.
No one on this planet can say for sure how that will go. The best we can do now is to work with and train AI in the ways that highlight the best of what it means to be a human being.
We should also enjoy this time in which we're using it to advance our needs and improve our lives. There is so much that AI can help us with, especially in the medical field and clean energy sectors.
I always promote love over fear and believe that we have the power (especially collectively) to direct the outcomes of our lives. Life is what we make of it and the reality we experience is largely the result of what we believe in our minds. So let's stay high minded and open to positive potential.
